J.P Sauer S/147 1936 Code Kar 98k Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #7820b, 8x57mm cal., 23.6" barrel, blued finish, solid hardwood stock and handguard, flat buttplate, inverted-"V" front sight, and adjustable tangent rear sight with "V"-notch, graduated to 2000 meters. Includes steel cleaning rod and reproduction brown leather sling. Top of the receiver ring is marked "S/147"and "1936"; with Weimar- style eagle firing proofs on left side of the receiver and barrel. There is a "(droop wing eagle)116" and two "(droop wing eagle)214" stamps on right side of the receiver, and three small "(droop wing eagle)116" stamps on right side below the rear sight. There are legible "(Eagle)H" and "(Eagle)WaA 214" Waffenamts on right side of the buttstock. Front sight block band is early type without slots for sight hood. Barrel bands, trigger guard, and floorplate are also early milled types. Matching numbers. No visible import marks. Rifle is in fine condition as professionally restored, retaining almost all its dark reblued finish. Wood has been lightly sanded, and clear colored stain applied, still showing a few old marks. Action operates smoothly. Bore rates very good, with clearly defined rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,200. (C&R)
